Join us for an event-filled April. It all begins on Saturday, April 6th when we present Notable Women of Wayne County by Rosa Fox, Huron Town Historian. It is the first of three presentations in our Spring Lecture Series. Note: The lecture with Rosa Fox has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled.
On Apr. 13, John Zornow will speak about Buildings That Were Moved & Reused: Part of Newark’s History, followed on April 20th with Cindy Russell giving her talk on Strolling Through the Park: Newark’s Central Park, 200 Years of History.
All lectures will be given at the museum and begin at 2:00. Admission is free. If you would like to reserve a seat, call 315-331-6409.
Also in April, The Day in the Life of Arcadia time capsule event on April 8th (see below) and the Annual Meeting and Dinner on April 18th.
Lots to see and do. We hope you will be able to participate.
N-AHS will hold “A Day in the Life” event on Monday, April 8, 2024. We hope that you will participate in A Day in the Life of Arcadia* as it will serve as a time capsule for future lovers of history to enjoy. We chose this day because of the total solar eclipse, of course. But the submissions do not have to be eclipse related. They can feature everyday life, nature or anything else that inspires you on that day.
We ask that you enter your photos, poetry, stories and/or impressions online (see the link above). You cannot start uploading for the event until April 8th, but there is a testing option that is active now, so you can see how it works. You will have until April 13th at 11:59 PM to upload your material.
There are three different categories for the event. Each category has its own rules posted. You will need to enter your name and email address/phone number to participate, but that’s for identification purposes only. Your information is not publicly seen and will not be used for any other purpose. The testing option and voting for your favorite photo do not require any user input.
If you lack access or if you are uncomfortable with the process, you can send your hard copy submissions to 120 High St, Newark, and we will scan and upload for you.
All society members are invited to contribute, whether or not you still live in Arcadia Township. Arcadia residents can also contribute. The project is A Day In the Life of Arcadia, but we will consider entries from out of the area, as long as they are 4/8/2024 related.
* By Arcadia, we mean Arcadia Township, which encompasses Newark
