Open House – June 7th & 8th

The 20th Annual Newark-Arcadia Museum Open House will be held at the museum on Friday, June 7th from 4  to 8 PM, and Saturday, June 8th from 10 AM to 8 PM.

A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new exhibit will  be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The new major exhibit, Hometown Grown:  200 Years of Agriculture will be unveiled.  It will feature a great variety of artifacts including farm tools, a farm to table kitchen, Newark nurseries, dairies, the Newark Fair & Fairgrounds, Edgett-Burnham Cannery, and more.  Also opening will be a special exhibit celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of Newark.

Other activities will include Cynthia Russell’s presentation of “The Nurseries and Nurserymen of Newark”, on Friday at 7:00  and Saturday at 2:00.  The program will highlight the history of the nursery industry in Newark and the nurserymen responsible for its growth from its early beginnings to it becoming one of the most important nursery centers in the United States.

To help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the opening of the Newark-Arcadia Museum, there will be cake at 12 noon on Saturday.

There’s more to come.  It will be an excellent opportunity to experience what the museum has to offer.
