Dedication To Judith Harrington on August 14

There will be a plaque dedication in memory of Judith Harrington at the Marbletown Schoolhouse on Saturday, Aug. 14th at 1:00 p.m.  All are invited to attend.

Judith was deeply involved with the Marbletown Schoolhouse for many years before moving to Ohio. She was a past Board member, had a column in the newsletter, wrote cemetery walk scripts, co-chaired the Exhibits Committee, served on numerous committees, and participated in an Historic House Tour by opening their home. But most of all, her love of the schoolhouse superseded all.

Gift Shop Adds New Book of Newark Photos

Verona Marble was born the daughter of Ray and Bertha Sauers Marble on December 9, 1913 in the family home at 201 East Maple Avenue, Newark, New York and she continued to live there her entire life.

Ms. Marble was a life member of the Wayne County Historical Society and the Arcadia Historical Society.  She combined her love of local history with a passion for photography.  Her eye for form and place can be seen in the  photographs she took and saved, many of which were of Newark and its environs.

These photos are in the private collection of the Sloane Family.   And now, you can see them too in the book, “Newark and Nearby – 1930-1970” published by Doug Sloane and available exclusively through N-AHS.

The book is a walk through our history, with captioned images that many of you will remember and others will appreciate for their historical value.

This limited edition printing is priced at $15.00.  The books are available at the museum and can be purchased online or by sending a check to N-AHS at 120 High St, Newark NY  14513.  Add 2.00/book for shipping.  Special arrangements can be made by calling 315-331-6409.
